“Where is Grant?” – A Historic Galena Search Adventure

  • The Adventure: Embark on a one-of-a-kind “living history” chase through the charming streets of Galena! Your teams are tasked with a thrilling mission: find General Ulysses S. Grant! Not a statue, but a real-life (costumed) General Grant who is somewhere in town. Armed with initial historic clues, teams will explore Galena (optionally on e-bikes), solving puzzles and completing engaging objectives along the way to earn subsequent clues. But be quick – Grant is on the move, and clues may only be valid for a limited time! Objectives might include cracking a historical code or even a fun directive to pause for a “strategy session” over a themed beverage at a partner establishment.
  • Team Building Focus: This highly interactive event supercharges problem-solving, critical thinking, and adaptability as teams decipher time-sensitive information. It demands excellent communication, quick decision-making, and strategic planning to effectively track down the elusive General, all while having a blast exploring Galena’s rich history!

Along the route, they’ll encounter three distinct puzzle stations. At each, they must work together to solve the puzzle and collect a unique key. The first team to successfully navigate the course, solve all puzzles, and return with all three keys (and all their team members!) wins bragging rights.
  • Team Building Focus: This event promotes critical thinking under pressure, effective communication for puzzle-solving, team coordination on the water, and a strong sense of shared achievement as they work towards a common goal.
  • Nuts Outdoors Facilitation: We supply all necessary kayaks, paddles, and PFDs. Our team designs the Galena River course, sets up the engaging puzzle stations, manages the key system, and ensures a safe and well-organized event from start to finish.
